About the Festival
Light A Candle For Literacy Parade & Children's Book Festival is a joyful, family-centered celebration designed to spark a lifelong love of reading in children. Through books, creativity, culture, and community engagement, our annual Children’s Book Festival & Parade brings families together to honor literacy as the foundation for opportunity, imagination, and empowerment.

Founded with the belief that every child deserves access to books and literacy-rich experiences, Light A Candle For Literacy was created to make reading fun, visible, and accessible for families across our community.

Our festival centers children and families while uplifting authors, educators, and organizations committed to literacy, learning, and youth development. The event is free and open to the public, welcoming children of all ages to explore books, meet inspiring storytellers, and experience the magic of literacy beyond the classroom.

Join us for a day filled with storytelling, music, hands-on activities, author meet‑and‑greets, and a vibrant parade celebrating beloved book characters and real-life heroes.
